Americans Attacked by Washington

Most folks ‘round here still think of the good ole US of A as “the land of the free.”  You know, we can say what we want, live where we want and worship like we choose.  Well, leastwise if we pay our taxes.  Truth be told, little by little, we’re losin’ it neighbor.  And if the only thing you do is watch TV “news,” you might just miss that story amongst the advertising and self-promotion.  You know, I ain’t askin’ nobody to just believe me.  But you can still read about it in the papers.  And you young’uns know how to do that stuff on your phones.

Anyway, I hear tell the government has issued hundreds of “regulations” and “guidelines” in the last 3 years that’s affected ever’thing from soup to nuts.  We never hear ‘bout it ‘cause it don’t affect us direct.  They’re mostly controlling companies or some function of the State.  Sometimes we do hear about it ‘cause it affects our schools.  Like when they “offer” money to help the schools, but only if the school will teach what they want or hire somebody (without funding) or some kinda strings like that.  Them people in Washington just wanna control everything.  We’re slowing losin’ it.

The latest attack ain’t from the EPA or one of them other alphabets.  This one’s from none other than the US Dept. of Health and they’re attackin’ religious beliefs!  Yep, I know that sounds like some kinda sick joke, but it’s true.   Health Secretary Sebelius says all employers gotta pay for abortions and birth-control even if that act goes against their religious beliefs.  Y’all remember Kathy Sebelius, don't you?  Obama moved her to Washington from Kansas.  Liberal, I think.

Well, Sebelius says it ain’t her fault.  Reckon we heard that phrase a bunch in the last 3 years.  Anyway, she says she’s just enforcing that ObamaCare law that Congress passed.  Really?  You tryin’ to tell me she actually read through that thing?  So what other surprises she find?

Even some Democrats are saying they never woulda voted for that dog if they’d known what all was in it.  That’s what Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper said.  She’s a Democrat outta Pennsylvania.  Reckon that confirms my suspicions, neighbor.  Them folks in Congress never did read the darned thing ‘fore they voted for it.  Makes you wonder if they can read at all.

So now the truth about ObamaCare is finally beginning to come out.  And part of that truth is that charitable and religious organizations (like hospitals and charities and colleges) are gonna be forced to pay for stuff that’s against their beliefs!  ObamaCare is gonna make them pay for abortions and “day after” pills(abortion pills) amonst other stuff.  And here we thought the Constitution guaranteed the government couldn’t interfere with religion.  It ain’t just the “A” list(atheists, anarchists and ACLU) that’s tryin’ the push religion out of America.  It’s the socialists too.  They even add sneak attacks into health issues.

I ain’t afraid to say my piece about what’s happening to my country.  So what about the rest of the REAL 99%?  Do folks really want this to become the USSA?

More Corporate Welfare

The other mornin', me and a couple neighbors was having breakfast down at Mildred's Cafe.  The subject of welfare came up.  As you might guess, the conversation got goin' right good.  PC folks woulda called it "a spirited discussion."  Reckon, we did get a might loud.  One young fella musta overheard us.  After he paid his bill, he stopped by our table and said, "You guys are all on welfare you know. You get Social Security,  Medicare and stuff and all those farm subsidies too."  Well sir, we let that whipper-snappy have his say, even if he'd no idea what he was talkin' about.

I gotta admit, the subject changed a bit after that.  We got to talkin' about all them government farm subsidy programs.  Some of them subsidies only affects folks in certain areas.  You know, like peanuts.  That’s growed in the South, so farmers from Georgia to Texas might benefit.  But they only get about 3% of the money in that golden pot run by the government.

Most of that subsidy money goes for grain.  In fact, grains get over 80% of the pie.  And the biggest part of that is for corn.  With all them ethanol mandates and such, it pays good to grow corn!  Trouble is, me and the neighbors don't get diddly-squat.  Mostly them subsidies go to folks in Spokane and Miami and Washington DC.  Yep. You heard me right friend.  That's where the folks that own them big farming corporations live.  They sure 'nough ain't from around here!

So what me and my neighbors decided is the government could save about $8 billion a year if they cut out the welfare to them big farm corporations.  That'd help that National Debt thing don't ya know.  Most of us wouldn't miss the few bucks we might get.  Something to think about neighbor.  While you’re thinkin’.  I’ll just mosey on over to the couch for a snooze.

Sucking Up To Heroes

Well neighbor, I just got jabbed in another nerve. Ya, I know, nothing new. Lately I been reading a bunch about a certain President(and his wife) and how they’ve been sucking up to every one of our military heroes they can find. He’s been out there claimin’ how he brought the troops home and she’s been claimin’ how great he is for doin’ it. But you know, ‘tween the 2 of ‘em they got zero experience with the military. You gotta serve or be close family to somebody that served to do that. Shakin’ the hand of a hero don’t make you one.

Now I know, the President gets to take the credit (or the blame if he ain’t a liberal) for what happens on his watch. Don’t matter none that the last President actually made the commitment on when to bring the troops home. (And he was criticized for it to boot.) Don’t matter that it was the last President that set everything up so’s our Seal Team could arraign for Osama to meet Allah. And you know that while President Obama was sucking up to the troops, he didn’t say nothin’ about the millions of folks that ain’t got jobs or how folks are still loosin’ their homes. Meanwhile, them media folks was too busy watchin’ for them Republican candidates to make a slip of the tongue.

Back in the day, folks (including the President) had to earn their accolades. (Betcha didn’t know
I knew that word, did you?) ‘Course that was also in the day when the President answered direct to us and Congress, not his buddies. And back then, Congress watched him like a hawk instead of just worrying ‘bout how to keep their fancy jobs with all them perks.

Me and a bunch of my veteran buddies are just hopin’ and prayin’ folks now days are smart enough to see through all that bullshit that’s slung from Washington. Reckon we’re hopin’ for some real change. You know, an America of (all) the people, by (all) the people and FOR (all) the people. It can’t come too soon. This here country can’t last the way it’s been goin’. Well, that’s what I think.

Corporate Welfare & Disasters

You ever get a hankerin’ for a 400hp car that could get ya from whoa to 60 mile an hour in 6 seconds AND get 100 miles to a gallon to boot? Ain’t that every teenager’s dream? (And maybe a certain geezer too.) Well, they got ‘em now, son. ‘Course they ain’t cheap. ‘Bout $100,000 for one. And them dealers ain’t in every town like Fords and Chevys. But it ain’t no joke either. This here Fisker Automotive Co. out there in California is sellin’ a sport sedan out there right now.

I hear tell these Fisker fellas got some mighty slick engineers too. Like instead of designin’ that car from scratch, first they went shoppin'. They looked for what they could use that somebody else already made. You know, like door handles and windshield wiper motors and such. Tain’t like they stole nothin’. They’re just payin’ to use somebody else’s parts. Just like you and me neighbor. A trip to the Ben Franklin might save a body one heap of work, ya know?

Reckon they got some slick businessmen too. I mean, you’d think somebody that sells $100,000 cars, could do it without getting no government bailouts or loans. Sure over my head neighbor, but back in 2009, the good old US Department of Energy give ‘em a loan for $529,000,000! A little extra change in your pocket can't hurt none.

That Dept. of Energy is real good at loanin’ out our money. They also give a $465,000,000 loan to Tesla Motors. Maybe you ain’t heard of them either. Tesla is another California company that makes an electric roadster that sells for even more than that Fisker car. And even though it cost more, only 2 people can ride at a time.

Nobody's sayin' when these loans gotta get paid back. Ain’t even heard if they gotta pay interest on 'em. Anyway, that Energy Dept. got a heap more money stashed away to “loan” to big companies like Fisker and Tesla. In fact, they got $8 billion set aside, all totaled!

Here’s the best part neighbor. First them politicians in Washington fixed it to “loan” our money to companies that make expensive cars. Them that us folks can’t afford. Shucks, I could buy 2 cars and a new diesel pickup 4x4 for what one of them cars cost. And now, they’re playin’ games with the money that’s supposed to help them folks that got wiped out by disasters like that Joplin tornado and that hurricane Irene. Them Republicans want to take somewhere's 'round $1 billion of that automobile company bailout/loan/welfare money and use it for the disaster relief. Naturally the Democrats don’t cotton much to that idea and plan to block that disaster aid until Republicans give the welfare money back to the big corporations. They’d rather add that $1 billion to the national debt instead.

Now hang on there a minute Jethro. I know I’m getting’ old, but this here is a might confusin’. Democrats are for the working man. Republicans are for big business. Ain’t that what we been hearing all these years? So why are Republicans taking money from big business to give to folks in need? And why are Democrats holdin’ out until big business gets their welfare back? Reckon I gotta go over to the couch and ponder this for a while. In the meantime, remember, I am…

Real Americans Don’t Do ‘Holidays’

Howdy Neighbor.  Gotta warn you, I been in kind of what you might call a “Grinchy” mood lately.  Ever since Halloween, most everywhere I go, sales clerks and cashiers have been told to wish everybody a “happy holiday”, not Merry Christmas.  That there’s the problem.  This here is the Christmas season.  Christmas is our nationally recognized holiday.  Always has been.  But it seems there’s some folks among us that don’t like America for what it was and is.  They want to change it.  They invented politically correctness, saying we shouldn’t be offendin’ nobody.

So you say, “What’s wrong with that, Geez?”  Well sir, first off, I ain’t got nothing against change.  A tractor beats a horse any day.  And I ain’t against being nice to folks either.  Unless they’re up to no good, of course.  But there’s more to it then what them political correct people let on.  First off, it ain’t about offendin’ folks.  It’s about greed, pure and simple.  They just want to sell more stuff.  Don’t matter none what the holiday or what the stuff is or where it come from.  Just sell it.  Make money.

Another thing about this politically correct thing is this: When you change the name of something, it don’t mean the same no more.  If you don’t call it Christmas, then you don’t need to think about the reason for the season.  If it ain’t the Christmas season, then it can be the selling season or the buying season or something else.

This country was based on Christian principles.  Since the beginning, this here country has celebrated Christmas.  The biggest part of us still do.  We don’t celebrate buying season or any other season or day.  If you wanta celebrate something else, move your butt to where they do that.  We celebrate Christmas here!

Well, reckon I got that off my chest.  I feel much better now.  And I’d like to wish y’all a happy and holy Christmas!
